Yes we are in May and Daniel Jones DJ’s last update was in Jan so here we go for a busy update from Daniel Jones DJ and Dan Sound.
February Started with my first wedding of the year for Daniel Jones DJ it was Abi and Dave’s at Westleigh in Cottam Preston (the very same place me and my wife got married a few months before). Lovely couple nice pre meeting and a great night!
Then as if life doesn’t get any better we get rock royalty in the form of Thurston Moore and Michael Chapman. There last set was totally improvisational but amazing wall of noise, the fact Thurston was on a 12 string acoustic just beggars belief. It doesn’t seem so long ago I was a student at Manchester School of Sound Recording and now I am doing sound with the lead man from Sonic Youth! Very surreal but very cool.
After this I had 2 40th one I went on my 2 day YHA weekend straight after a gig (NOT recommended!) to celebrate a good friends 40th (lots of people are turning 40!). We cycled from Oxenholme station via Kirkby Lonsdale to Arnside in a big U shape. Then the next day we cycled home down the A6. We may have had the weather but we didn’t have the legs.
After this I had the pleasure of doing sound for a very special folk duo O’Hooley and Tiddow who’s song Shelter Me was played whilst Karen walked down the aisle. I was also taken aback when the dedicated said song to me.
This year I am working hard at making my set up neater and more pleasant to the eye. This year my priority is to provide the best show possible for my customers.
After this Ive had a nice midweek wedding at Rowton Hall in Chester done sound for the Monochrome Set did a lovely gig at Thurnhan Hall for Lucy and Callum who own the lovely Maxwells in Lancaster (check them out some seriously good food)
I should also thank Turnedoutnice aka Paul Flanagan for the lovely gifts he sorted for some of the brides and grooms. If you are after something unique (wooden pens, bowls, keyrings etc) this is the man to see.
That’s all From Daniel Jones DJ and Dan Sound more soon!
